family

Tuesday Ramble

January 22, 2013

I’ve wanted to write so many times lately, but the words won’t come!

There’s so much I want to get done around the house, but sometimes I feel like I need a kick to get me going.  I think just the day to day tasks of homeschooling, caring for my family, household work, and most importantly, spending time in the Word are a lot.  By the time I put the kids to bed at night I’m done for the day, but don’t find any fulfillment watching TV.

I’m waiting for a new book to arrive called Desperate by Sally Clarkson and Sarah Mae.  I’m going to be going through it with a friend.  I’m so thankful and excited for this because it’s reassuring to know I’m not the only one who wants to escape the madness of life sometimes.  I think it’ll be a great encouragement for both of us!

I shared with another friend this fall that when she shared her struggles with me, it made me feel better because it showed me that I’m not the only one that feels the way she was feeling.  However, I know for a fact that when I’m in the Word and focusing on the Lord, my heart and attitude towards my duties as a wife and mom are so much better.  I realize that this is the way God created family, but He didn’t intend for us to do it alone.  He is with us always.

So whatever you are doing today, I hope you find joy in knowing you are honoring God by staying home with your babies to do what seems like the mundane.  You will impact eternity and make a difference in those sweet lives.  I look forward to the day our kids are grown and we can see the benefits of our constant redirection, training, and guidance!

Enjoy your day!  It’s beautiful in sunny Colorado!

Randoms 2012 Pictures

January 1, 2013

I meant to post these before Christmas, but you know how life is before Christmas!  Throw in lots of sick kids and a sick husband and it got even messier!

We went to Breckenridge with E’s parents and brother.  It was a great time.  We went tubing at Frisco Adventure Park two of the days which was a blast! I think A kept her eyes shut the whole ride down, but kept going down!

This was at the Bass Pro Shop Winter Wonderland.  I love the workshops they have for families.  It’s so fun to go walk around there.  I think I will utilize their store for an outing or two during these cold winter months.  Cheap entertainment!

I love this girl!  She’s a daddy’s girl for sure and bursting with personality!  She may be the third child, but believe me she won’t be forgotten-she’ll make sure of that! Ha!

We paint a lot during the winter months.  A painted grapes for letter G awhile back.  She was so proud and had to show everyone!

A little Christmas tree is in each of the kids rooms.  They don’t get turned on everyday, but I love the glow and warmth they add when they are on!

Oh how I love the Penny Horse Ride.  A penny can buy something these days-a minute of sheer delight for these monkeys!  They rename this horse every time we go to the grocery store!

We did a whole lot of this just before Christmas.  The stomach flu hit all of us except me.  I took it easy and napped a couple days to try to stay healthy and well rested.  Thankful for healthy kids now.  Wish I had their endless energy though!

Have a great day!  Happy New Year!!

I’m Here…Really

August 16, 2012

Can you guys believe summer is almost over?!  It seems like it has gone by so quick this year.

I’ve sat down to blog a couple of times, but the. words. won’t. come.

We’ve started the introduction to school, and next week is when it all really begins.  The introduction has been good for us because I can see now that A will be a distraction so I’ll be doing the more focused learning with P in the afternoons.  The mornings will be group activities and art projects that both kids can participate in and a little one on one with A.  Working with P means less down time for me, but I think it’ll result in a much happier teacher and student.  Plus P needs that one on one attention-he thrives and his behavior is so much better when he gets it.  So that’s our plan.

I won’t lie-there was a tiny bit of jealousy seeing all these other mommas sending their kids off to school, but I’m thankful for the time I get with mine.

I’m hoping now that we’ll have a better schedule, I’ll be in the groove of blogging again.  My mind is full so stay tuned!

For now I’m going to enjoy the rest of summer the way this kid does!

Summer Fun

June 26, 2012

It’s been way too long since I’ve updated.

We’ve been having such a great summer.  It seems like we’ve been going non-stop since we got back from our vacation at the beginning of the month.

Every weekend has been full, but a lot of fun.  We started out breaking the boat in for the first time with our neighbors.

The water was disgusting the first week, but I told myself not to let it stop us from having fun.  Of course, it didn’t.

The kids built sandcastles,

went tubing for the first time,

and sat on the beach looking cute as always!

Father’s day weekend was celebrated with my husband’s parents with a trip to the lake.  P jumped off the boat for the first time and loved it!  It’s so fun to see him grow and become more and more courageous!

On Father’s Day we celebrated with lunch and C’s baby dedication.  I’m so thankful for the husband and father he is and all he does for our family.  I’m blessed beyond measure to have a man who loves the Lord and all of us so much.  So thankful for him.  Also praising God for this sweet baby girl who we dedicated to raise in a loving, God-serving home.

We have a zoo pass this year so I expect to visit often.  This time we joined a friend and Batman decided to tag along!

Later in the week the Slip N Slide was brought out to help survive this heat.  Last night we picked up a pool for the kids.  They spent a good majority of the day in that cooling off.  Even the baby enjoyed it, although the water table is a little easier for her at this stage.

My garden is struggling a little in this heat, but we did manage to make pico de gallo a couple times last week.  The cilantro is from the garden.  Tomorrow I think I’ll be able to pick my first tomato and cut a bunch of lettuce!

This past weekend we celebrated my brother and new sister-in-laws wedding.  The kids absolutely loved dancing.  We couldn’t keep them off the dance floor!  Today was a pretty relaxing day at home trying to recover from company and the wedding!

The last bit of news….my baby girl is walking and is incredibly proud of herself!

I know that was long and winded, but it has been so long!  I’m hoping to keep up-to-date a little better, but at the same time it’s fun to just enjoy summer and not worry about it so much!  Hope you’re enjoying your summer!

A Glimpse of Lake Living

June 6, 2012

I think I’m finally settled back into our normal routine…or should I say our new summer routine. We’re happy to be home, but have a busy, busy month!  The weekends are full and include several rounds of out of town visitors! Here is a glimpse of our week at the lake cabin.  The weather wasn’t [...]

Mother’s Day

May 13, 2012

I’ve been pretty quiet on here this week.  Our house has not, however! I don’t think it’ll ever be quiet for the next twenty years(maybe less). I’ve had a lot on my heart lately. One big thing.  I am trying to embrace the mess, the noise, the squeals, the fighting. It’s part of my job [...]

A Great Gift

May 8, 2012

P got an early birthday present from my best friend while home last month.  A football that’s just his size. He has been in the backyard playing catch with his Daddy as much as possible lately. Playing baseball in the backyard is out now because he can hit too hard and it ends up over [...]

She’s One

May 4, 2012

I’m sitting here wondering where the past year has gone!  It’s been a full, busy year but oh so good. Yesterday we celebrated Baby girl’s first birthday! She is such a delight to us! Her big brother is by far her favorite.  I don’t think anyone can make her giggle as much as he can!  [...]

Marriage Matters

April 16, 2012

In the six short years my husband and I have been married, we’ve had a lot going on.  This isn’t unusual with the fast paced living most American’s have these days. Between moves, job changes, and adding babies to the mix we’ve had to be really intentional about time with each other. Our relationship and [...]

Oh Happy Day!

April 8, 2012

It was a beautiful day!  Loving this Colorado sunshine! We celebrated with church this morning where my husband and I were baptized.  So thankful for my Savior! Our neighbors joined us for church then came over for lunch afterwards.  Their boys are older than ours so our kids get lots of love and attention!  We’re so [...]
